Summer Salsa Sizzle

Summer is the season for vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients, and what better way to celebrate than with homemade salsas bursting with color and taste? Whether you're hosting a backyard barbecue, lounging by the pool, or simply craving a refreshing snack, this salsa recipe is sure to be a hit. Green salsa Ingredients: 

  • 2.5 lb fresh tomatillos (husks and stems removed)
  • 3 small garlic cloves
  • 5 serrano peppers, stem removed (and cored, if you desire less heat)
  • 1/4 white onion peeled 
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Tatemada Red Salsa Ingredients:

  • 2.5 lb Ripe red tomatoes 
  • 3 small garlic cloves
  • 5 serrano peppers, stems removed (and cored, if you desire less heat)
  • 1/4 white onion peeled 
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large, dry  pan at medium temperature, add all ingredients (minus salt & pepper) to toast for 25 minutes, make sure to constantly be moving them to brown all sides and to make sure they do not burn.
  2. Let it sit for 10 minutes to cool down. 
  3. Once the ingredients have a nice dark toast, combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor, pulse for 3 intervals of 3 seconds, add salt and pepper. Make sure it's not a puree consistency, it has to have a chunky texture. 
  4. Taste and season with extra salt and pepper, if needed.
  5. Serve immediately and enjoy!
